San Francisco-based visual artist Pakayla Rae Biehn creates surreal, poetic images with delicate subjects (love, grace, women and flowers) by adapting a pre-eminently photographic technique (double exposure) to the medium of painting. The artist can be followed online via Tumblr and Instagram – just visit her main website. If you do, you’ll also get the chance to sample her range of artistic techniques, which go from collage to hyperrealism and back. The Double Exposure Series, in all its poetry, employs paintings created by the artist herself, as well as by others, such as Alex Welsh, Marija Strajnic, Kendall Paulsen, Max Tomlinson, Chloe Aftel, Sabino Aguad, Jean-Pierre Guenec, Tamara Lichtenstein, Jeff Enlow and Tanya Prilukova. The result is a wonderful, nostalgia-imbued collective effort.
